Get Your Glow on with Blissful Beauty's Highlighter Collection

Does makeup that is hypoallergenic, natural, with vegan options, and is suitable for even the most sensitive skin sound good to you? How about a makeup line that is free of Talc, Parabens, Synthetic Dyes, Animal By-Products, Gluten and Harsh Chemicals and Fillers? Sounds good too, right? What if I told you that Blissful Beauty Mineral Makeup features everything mentioned above and uses only the highest quality ingredients all made in North America; including natural mineral pigments, real silk and pearl, a blend of natural and organic oils and vegan waxes – you want to learn more, right?

Amanda Wood, owner of Blissful Beauty, started this company because when she was a makeup artist she noticed that a lot of her clients had different skin concerns. “Even high end brands can contain bothersome ingredients,” she explains. “What was even more frustrating was when I moved back to my small hometown in Nova Scotia, and realized there's a very small variety of products for people with skin concerns and allergies, and most people have to ship these items from away. I was constantly purchasing items from various companies with promises of natural and hypoallergenic ingredients, only to realize that they had added fillers and chemicals so they still weren't suitable.” When Amanda had enough, she decided to create her own makeup that contains all the ingredients she enjoyed, minus the cheap filters.

But starting a makeup company from the ground up is not easy. As you can imagine, it takes a lot of effort to convince stores to carry your products and consumers to try something new. Luckily, Amanda enjoys a good challenge and persevered. Now she’s reaping the benefits with loyal customers, great reviews and celebrity collaborations. “I created a customized colour called Pink Coral for Heather Rankin, from The Rankin Family. She wore it when she hosted and performed at the 2016 East Coast Music awards along with my foundation and blush,” Amanda shares. “Also, recently I teamed up with comedians Tracy and Martina. We created a makeup collection where a portion of the proceeds go towards a maritime charity called Christmas Daddies, which helps the less fortunate at Christmas time with presents, food and clothing.”

You can test and sample one of Blissful Beauty’s highlighters in the Winter Babe Box. “The highlighter line is a staple for this season. There's no talc or fillers added, and it has skincare benefits so it won't bother sensitive skin,” Amanda says. We’re sampling two colours this season; the Brightening Highlighter is a pink-toned, sparkly powder gives dull looking skin a healthy colour. “It's lovely on its own or over a matte blush for a pop of shimmer” Amanda advises. And there’s also the Champagne Highlighter that has more of a pearl shimmer, as opposed to sparkly, which is great for those with warmer skin tones. Both powders can double up as loose eyeshadows as well.

Plus, with coupon code “BABEBOX” on Blissful Beauty’s website, you can receive 10% off your total purchase and a free gift! This might prompt you to consider purchasing one of their top-tellers: Flawless Foundation. “I have 10 different shades in two different undertones, so there's a match for almost anyone. I've formulated this product to be as hypoallergenic as possible. Despite being a powder, it's not heavy or cakey because there's no talc or unnecessary filler added. Powder has no water phase, so very little preservative is needed, and it can last years longer than liquid foundation,” Amanda explains. “What's different about my product is that it has natural sun protection, soothing ingredients for mild acne, roseaca, sunburn etc,. real silk and pearl added to infuse skin with amino acids and natural moisturizers, ingredients to help blur the look of fine lines, pores and uneven skin tone. It even has buildable coverage so you can cover up any dark spots, blemishes and under eyes. The blurring effect is achieved by the ingredients ability to scatter light, so normally daylight and fluorescent lights make makeup look heavier, in this case it will actually look softer and will give your skin a soft glow. I can also formulate this without the pearl and silk so it can be completely vegan. This is a simple, effect and quick way for everyone to achieve flawless skin.”

Making homemade mineral makeup in small batches is not easy, especially if you choose to use natural preservatives, but the extra effort is worth the cost, according to Amanda; “My preservatives are all natural, both food and cosmetic grade and are still effective. Instead of silicone, I hand-press each eyeshadow with nourishing jojoba oil and coconut oil. I want to show people that you can have a beautiful, long wearing product that truly is healthy for your skin.”
