With the winter season in full effect, it's also the time when many of us experience uncomfortable, dry skin. This doesn’t have to be the case with the right skincare system. With these three Dermalogica products, your skin will be smooth and moist all year round.
Skin therapist Jane Wurwand started Dermalogica in Los Angeles in 1986. Dermalogica products are especially great for any of you babes that have very sensitive skin. All products are free of common irritants and ingredients such as alcohol, artificial colours or fragrances, which could sometimes be the cause of your breakouts. I used three products from Dermalogica’s Skin Health system as part of my skincare routine for three weeks and my skin looks amazing! Best of all, my face is MOISTURIZED! Here's a quick review of the products I used.
1. Daily Microfoliant
I love that this product uses a rice-based formula. The more natural ingredients, the better! It's rice enzymes micro-exfoliate the dead skin cells. This exfoliating powder activates upon contact with water. A subtle smell of rice catches my nose when the product leaves the bottle and onto my hands. I try to keep my face high up when pouring out the product so I don’t get any dust residue from pouring up my nose. Once the formula absorbs water, I rub it together in my hands and a paste like mixture forms. It’s not too rough on the skin because there are no micro beads like the ones found in many other exfoliating products. That is a key benefit of this product; micro beads can often leave scratches on the skin so opting for products without them should be an option to look into to. I found that my face was really smooth immediately after using this product. After exfoliating I applied the Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Balance moisturizer mixed with the Phyto Replenish Oil.

2. Intensive Moisture Balance and Phyto Replenish Oil
Although the replenish oil can be used on its own, I found mixing a small amount of it with the moisture balance worked best for me. The moisturizer is rich with antioxidants so major bonus! It’s also free of artificial fragrances so there isn’t an overpowering scent. It’s not oily and absorbs into the skin quickly leaving it well nourished with a great glow. The Intensive Moisture Balance product works well on fine lines and gives the skin the soothing it needs to thrive in not only the winter, but any season.
Unlike the moisturizer, the Phyto Oil does have a strong scent. It comes in a small bottle but all that’s needed for each use is about 4-6 drops. To release the oil the bottle needs to be held upside down for a few seconds and might need a little shake to initiate some product flow. This oil absorbs easily making the product weightless on the skin. Even though it is an oil product, it doesn’t make the skin look greasy. Instead the skin looks healthy and radiant. These products are a great solution for dry and flaky skin. After just a week of using this oil in combination with the moisturizer morning and night, I’ve seen a change in the texture and appearance of my skin. My face is much softer and brighter. This oil gives my face a nice shine, even underneath my makeup.
Final Thoughts:
Something I appreciated about this trio is that I didn’t have to use a different skincare routine at night. All these products can be used in the morning as a refresher and at night as a rejuvenator.
What I love about this brand is that it caters to multiple skin types and skin needs. In addition to dryness and dehydration, Dermalogica also offers complete product lines dedicated to other skin concerns such as, oiliness, acne and breakouts, uneven skin tone, shaving, and sensitivity or redness.
