Let’s start by stating the obvious: the packaging is SO DAMN CUTE. Each Hard Candy Wet Ever Bold Hold Lip Lacquer comes in a cute little tin + mirror combo. It’s perfect for application on the go, which as you read on, is essential to keeping this glossy look all day.
The Hard Candy Wet Ever line features 7 gorgeous shades ranging from their lightest shade which is a nude pink called “Selfish” to a dark mauve called “Ambitious” to a bold red called “Devious.” Babe Box is featuring “Famous” in the Spring Babe Box, which is the second lightest shade in the collection, giving users a glossy neutral-burgundy lip.
I’m going to start with the positives. It’s super opaque. You literally only need one swipe and you’ve got a bold, shiny colour on your lips. It is very comfortable to wear, it’s not too sticky, and the formula is scent-free. Another positive that I care about is that Hard Candy does not test on animals so that’s a little win in my book as well.
The formula is said to combine the long wearing properties of liquid lipstick with the shine and hydration of a lip gloss. The formula is no doubt a lip gloss with shine and hydration, but doesn’t a long-lasting gloss sound kind of impossible? Lip gloss can not pass the kissing test, and usually doesn’t last through eating and drinking. Wet Ever, however, does last through these tests but not as glossy as it looks during your first application.
Through-out the day, I found that the glossy look turned into more of a lip stain – which was totally cool because I prefer lip stains over gloss anyway. So, basically, the shine, gloss and colour sort of faded through-out the day. Re-application is necessary if you want to keep that high-shine look all day, and luckily, you’ll have your super cute tin with a mirror to help you with that.
The application wand is small which is great for precision. The formula isn’t sticky, and doesn’t crease, but I would recommend you wear these with a lip liner – just to contain all of the gloss.
