Let's be real though, it's all about Baby Groot.

The unlikely band of heroes has now made a name for themselves as the “official” Guardians of The Galaxy. Star-Lord/Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), Gamora ( Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista ), Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) are hired by a powerful alien race, the Sovereign, to protect their precious batteries from invaders. When it is discovered that Rocket has stolen the items they were sent to guard, the Sovereign dispatch their armada to search for vengeance – que the space ship flying through space pew-pew-pew scene.
As the Guardians try to escape, Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki ) hires Yondu Udonta (Michael Rooker and his crew, who have been exiled from the greater Ravager community for child trafficking, to recapture the Guardians.
Peter is introduced to his father (Kurt Russell), who is a god-like Celestial who resides on the planet known as Ego. As Drax, grows closer to Ego’s pet empath Mantis (Pom Klementieff), she confides in him that Ego is not just interested in connecting with his long-lost son. ?

The Breakdown:
Family: The way the writer-director Gunn employs family throughout Guardians Vol. 2 makes it more than a buzzword. The main plot shows Peter Quil finally meeting his father, while Gamora and her vengeful sister Nebula (Karen Gillan) attempt to smooth over their rough history, meanwhile Rocket bonds with the Ravager Yondu.
Baby Groot: He’s hands-down one of my favourite characters. The opening scene with the Guardians is a Groot classic that’ll have you intrigued, and falling in love, right away. He has a smaller role (so to speak), but Baby Groot very much still around, having not grown fully by the time we next see him. But he might not be the Groot we remember. *sob*

Not too Much Action, but Just Enough: It’s a superhero movie, so yes, there are lots of fighting and explosions, but it’s not over-done like other superhero movies. This movie is still about the lead quintet; it doesn’t lose focus by trying to go bigger. Even if the galaxy is at stake in the climax, the characters’ interpersonal relationships are what matters most. Peter’s off-and-on romance with Gamora, his rocky connection with Rocket, and others are what makes this film tick.
Comedy: I promise you’ll laugh. Groot’s inexperience will make you giggle, the small puns from Star-Lord are cheesy but effective and Drax’s brutal truths (especially when it comes to Mantis) will have you rolling on the floor laughing.
