7 Simple Solutions to Fighting Your Bad Hair Day

I think it’s safe to say that we feel like we have more bad hair days than good ones. The worst part of it is that there are so many things that can go wrong with our hair; it’s too greasy, too frizzy, too flat and the list goes on. So, we’ve compiled a list of the top 7 most common bad-hair day culprits and shared some suggestions on how to bounce back.

1. Grease and Oil Overload

Sometimes you don’t have enough time to wash our hair in the morning, and the night before you were so exhausted you passed out on the couch with a slice of pizza in your hand. We’ve been saying this for a long time: dry shampoo is AMAZING. Just spray the product into your hair, let it absorb the oils for a couple of minutes and then brush it out for more voluminous and fresh-looking hair. Check out COLAB’s Volume hairspray if you’re looking for even more oomph.

Pro tip: I find that it takes some time for the dry shampoo to work it’s magic, so if you know that you won’t have enough time to wash your hair in the morning, spray the solution onto your hair the night before. You’ll wake up with fresh, almost-ready-to-go hair.

2. Messy and Uncontrollable

Have you ever combed your hair and then when you looked in the mirror your hair looked like it was alive and moving away from your head? I have. When your hair is unmanageable, it’s time for a time out in a braid or bun. The top not, the lazy bun, the side-braid-plus-bun look is very chic. To save time, and bobby buns, use the Goody Simple Styles Spin Pins. They do the work of 20 bobby bins and I honestly don’t know how I lived without these miracle-working babies!

3. Peeking Roots

Unless you’re going for the ombré look, this could be a problem. But, there’s a simple solution: camouflage those roots with messy curls You’ll want to stay away from straight and polished hairstyles, because that’s when you’re untouched roots are likely to show up the most.

4. Uneven Ponytail

Bad hair days become even more frustrating when you’re trying to put it up in a simple ponytail and that doesn’t even look good. This is where good hair product comes to play. Apply a smoothing serum and comb it out and then try again. If it’s still not looking smooth and chic, try the layered ponytail trick.

5. The Frizz is Here

The worst thing you can do is apply more heat to try to tame your frizzy beast. Instead, calm your hair down with some natural oils like coconut oil, argan oil…even some olive oil if that’s all you have. But don’t go overboard, or else you’ll have to deal with issue #1.

6. Rough and Dry Ends

I hate to say it, but it’s time for a little snip-snip (even if it just your ends). You can condition and try to un-do the heat damage all you’d like but if your ends are rough, dry and un-even, the best option for your hair is to give it a little trim.

7. Nothing is Working!

Sometimes, no matter what hairstyle you attempt—a braid, a messy bun or a ponytail—your hair just won’t sit right. For such days, all you need is a hat. Grab a fashionable hat of your choice to camouflage a bad hair day. This is, of course, even more, practical and acceptable in the winter season.
