Donuts and I go way back. We’re BFFs and we plan on staying that way forever. I recently saw a photo of almost (emphasis on almost) too-pretty-to-eat donuts on a friends Instagram account and I jumped on the opportunity to try it out.
The Rolling Pin was opened by entrepreneurs and #BossLadies Vanessa Baudanza and Isabelle Loiacono in 2014. The Rolling Pin features an assortment of donuts, macarons, pies, cakes and more - all made in-house. Is your mouth salivating yet? Read of dessert lover!

The Rolling Pin’s most coveted items are their donuts with flavor shots their Maple Bacon donuts with a shot of maple, Jamoca Almond Fudge donuts with a shot of espresso and Butter-My-Scotch with a shot of caramel. They have specific donuts featured every day so we went in with the plan of trying half a dozen donuts – including their cookies’ n' cream donut with a chocolate shot. Yum, yum and yum.
Most of their donuts are yeast donuts so the donut itself tastes the same, and I'm not complaining because I could have easily eaten half a dozen plain donuts. They were THAT good. But, if you were wondering, here’s a list of the six donuts we tried and my thoughts.
Cookies n’ Cream: Delicious. Just delicious.
Blueberry Cheesecake: Hand’s down my favourite out of the bunch. The blueberry jelly on top is great and the cream in the middle isn’t too overpowering.
Fluffernutter: I’m not a big fan of peanut butter so it just wasn’t my thing.
Custard Bomb: I mentioned that the yeast donut itself is so good that I could eat them just like that, and this donut is the closest thing to a plain donutt. So, if you’re not too crazy about the fancy toppings, this would be a great choice for you.
Nutella Bomb: It’s built similarly to the Custard Bomb but with delicious Nutella instead of custard inside.
Red Velvet: The cream cheese filling is SO GOOD.
If you’re planning on making the trip to Yonge and Lawrence to visit this one-of-a-kind bakery, check out the menu ahead of time and plan accordingly. We went on a Friday but I would have loved to have tried their Honey Cruller, Birthday Cake, Cherry Pie and Maple Bacon donut (basically, the donuts I didn’t get to try during my first visit. I’m so bad!). But honestly, you can’t go wrong with what you get!
