After the euphoria of his airport tussle with the Avengers, Peter Parker returns to his mundane New York life. He craves excitement — and when he crosses paths with arms dealer the Vulture, he gets it.
As eager to please as a puppy, Spider-Man’s (Tom Holland) taste of Avengers action (a cameo at the end of Captain America: Civil War) has left him hungry to right wrongs. So far, more Spider-Boy than man, his ventures have been low-key and the rewards minor (a churro from a nice Dominican lady he helped across the road). But then he stumbles across a crime scene with some serious alien-sourced weapons tech. He soon finds himself on the radar of scissor-winged scavenger the Vulture (Michael Keaton).
Meanwhile, in the real world, he struggles with teen angst, high-school social standing and a bruising crush on Liz (Laura Harrier), the unobtainable debate-club beauty.
Tom Holland: I personally think Tom Holland is the best screen Spider-Man so far. Nimble and shrimpy (though weirdly buff once he removes his shirt), he perfectly plays the part as a socially awkward teen.
Plot: It’s a refreshing story line from the other Spider-Man movie’s we are used too. The characters and scenarios are familiar, but this is a loose, cool, funny remix that makes them feel fresh again. Plus, it’s mercifully short on life lessons from Aunt May.
Action: This film is nothing short on action with multiple Spider-Man-in-action scenes from saving a drowning boat, to climbing a large tower and battling the Vulture on a flying Avengers plane.
Spider-Man: Homecoming is in theatres now. Check out the official trailer below:
