I was never really interested in automatic cleansing brushes. I grew up with sensitive, acne prone skin, and since it’s calmed down I’m afraid to experiment because I don’t want to mess up with better skin I have now.
I’ve heard the pros and cons from other avid-users. Con: the first generation of cleansing brushes were too harsh on the face, with tough bristles that felt like your skin was going to rip off. Pro: they do a great job of removing additional makeup and dirt and your face.
Once I heard about the Panasonic micro-foaming facial cleanser’s differences from other facial cleaners, I decided to put my prejudice aside and give it a try. Here’s the quick rundown on the device.
Gentle Make-Up Removal Plate: Loosen and remove makeup with warm heat and cleansing cream or oil
The warming makeup removal mode indicator flashes while warming up.
It takes approximately 30 seconds to reach its usable temperature.
Makeup remover can also be applied directly to the warming plate.
Apply to the skin and glide around the face in a circular motion
The warming plate will turn off automatically after approximately 3 minutes
Micro-Foam Cleansing
Add your favorite foaming cleanser to the cleanser compartment and close.
Attach the Japanese Style Soft Brush then fill measuring cap with water and add to the center hole of the device.
Turn power on and allow a lush foam to form then smooth across the face, avoiding the eye area. The soft cleansing brush with tapered bristles and lush foam will gently cleanse pores and effectively remove dirt and oil.
Rinse face with warm water after about 1 minute of facial cleansing
Pore Targeting Silicone Brush
Cleanse deep down dirt and oil typically found in the T-Zone area
Compact brush design specifically targets hard to reach areas
100% Waterproof
You'll see that there are two different kinds of brush heads included in the kit, the long nylon bristled one, and a second that is smaller with soft silicone bristles. These brush heads are very easy to pop on and off. I also noticed that there are longer bristles than other facial cleaners. This definitely helped with a thorough gentle clean, while the smaller silicone head is great for a deeper clean in targeted areas (around the nose and chin area).
Something I really appreciated about this Panasonic facial cleanser is that in the center of the brush there is a little cap you can pop open, so instead of pouring your cleanser over the top, you can pour if directly in the brush. You only need a very small amount of cleanser because the water and vibrating sensations make it foam and spread so easily! I’m positive that I’m using less cleanser with this brush – which is great! It’s also great for traveling and storage, no need to bring an extra bottle of cleanser with you! But, here's where things get really different. Look at the picture above again. It's right there, but you probably didn't even notice it. The end of the brush handle, where it is that pretty rose gold-coppery color? That's not just a pretty accent color. It is a "Warming Makeup Removal Plate"! The Warming Makeup Removal Plate is pretty easy to use. You apply a cleanser to your face (it works best with an oil based cleanser), and you can select low or high heat. It heats up, and it feels really great on your skin when you rub it on there. It isn't hot enough to be uncomfortable but it's enough to feel great. It took me a while to decide how much the plate was helping. Sure, it felt good, but was the extra step necessary? I don't really notice much of a difference when I use the plate on a "light" makeup day. But if you're wearing more makeup, and in particular if anything is waterproof, the plate does help! On days that I'm wearing foundation, I've been using the Warming Makeup Removal Plate with an oil cleanser, and then following that up with a light facial cleanser using the regular brush. I only use the smaller, more targeted brush a few times a week. The end result is that my skin is definitely cleaner, and it is gentle enough for my sensitive skin. Here are 4 fool-proof ways you can get a spa skin treatment at home with the Panasonic micro-foaming facial cleansing brush:
Remove your makeup with a facial wipe
Using the warming makeup removal plate to help loosen and remove makeup
Give yourself a deep, gentle cleanse with rich micro-foam and a soft brush (tip: always use in a circular motion)
Apply moisturizer to your forehead, nose, cheek and chin and massage it into your face in an outwards direction
