Suicide Squad: the Good, the Bad and the Suicidal

Summary:

Everyone is in panic after the pandemonium that happened during Batman VS Superman. In effort to battle mysterious and powerful entities, the US has put together a forced of criminals called Task Force X.

Now armed with government weapons, Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang, Killer Croc, El Diablo, and Slipknot must learn to work together under the direction of Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) who might actually be the most ruthless of them all.

The plan is set in motion because Amanda Waller has the heart of Enchantress (Cara Delevingne) and can control her power. But Enchantress quickly turns on everyone, deciding to eradicate mankind for imprisoning her. She encircles the city with a horde of monsters and summons her brother to assist her in creating weapons of mass destruction to, of course, destroy the world. This is where Task Force X aka Suicide Squad comes in.

There are many things against the Suicide Squad completing their mission, the biggest one being that they’re all individual criminals forced to work together in order to get time cut form their prison sentence. If they fail to comply, they get killed. Another huge obstacle is Harley’s lover The Joker (Jared Leto) who will do anything to get be reunited with his pudding. Can a bunch of bad people pull together to do good? Or is this truly a suicidal mission?

Conclusion:

I just want to start by saying that yes, there’s a lot of negative criticism to the film and I totally get it. But before I read all of the bad reviews, I really didn’t think that the movie was bad at all. This film introduces a lot of new characters at once and they did a great job of sharing a little bit of backstory of the main characters so that you would sort of feel bad for the situation that they’re in – the bad situation that they put themselves in, but you get this feeling that they’re misunderstood. Will Smith and Margot Robbie do an amazing job with their roles. Viola Davis is always an amazing ruthless boss lady and you enjoyed a few laughs in the movie (mainly thanks to Harley Quin). I feel like they could have picked someone else to play the roll of Enchantress, the plot moves by pretty quickly and there simply isn’t enough Joker in the film. But overall, it’s still a must-see summer film. Honestly, who doesn’t love action hero movies?!
