Everything You Need to Know About YouTube FanFest Toronto + Winning a Meet & Greet

Do you remember the days when you only went on YouTube to watch music videos? YouTube has grown so much in the past 10 years and now offers videos from fashion DIYs, cooking tutorials, relationship advice, comedic skits and so much more. On average, Canadians watch two billion videos every month on YouTube. And who do we have to thank for endless hours of video watching? The amazing, hilarious and totally talented YouTube Creators.

Last year our hometown hosted North America’s first ever YouTube FanFest, drawing more than 15,000 attendees to celebrate the talent of YouTube creators. Fans got up close and personal with some of their favourite YouTubers like lifestyle guru Bethany Mota, hosts of the night Epic Meal time, Torontonian and DIY expert LaurDIY, YouTube producer extraordinaire Kurt Hugo Schneider, Jenna Marbles and her fabulous green hair and Lily Singh aka IISuperwomanII aka the funniest woman on earth (in my humble opinion).

On August 13, 2016 they're ready to do it again at the Molson Amphitheatre. With more YouTubers and a bigger venue, get ready to be blown away!

This year’s show will be hosted by Lauren Toyota, who is well-known to Canadians as a former MuchMusic VJ and host, and who has worked full-time as a YouTube Creator for the past few years, co-hosting her channel Hot for Food. Toronto’s own YouTube superstar IISuperwomanII will headline the show, alongside returning fan favourites LaurDIY, Bethany Mota, Daniela Andrade, Mike Tompkins, Kurt Hugo Schneider and Humble the Poet. They will be joined this year by an incredible lineup of performers including AsapSCIENCE (remember Mitchell Muffin from Big Brother Canada? Yes, it’s him and his boyfriend) and musical artists Megan Nicole, Tiffany Alvord, Ruth B, Sam Tsui, Max Schneider and KRNFX. Dancers are also making a splash this year at FanFest, with Marquese Scott (WHZGUD2) and Poppin John ready to have the crowd up on their feet.

Because YouTube FanFest 2016 is being held at the Molson Amphitheatre you will need to purchase tickets – which is totally be a good thing because last year’s event was held at Yonge and Dundas Square and it was a first-come-first-serve event. So, unless you were there are 6AM with a large coffee mug and camping tent, you were nowhere near the action. To make good news even better, the tickets are FREE! The added bonus of tickets this year is that ticketholders could receive a once in a lifetime opportunity for a one-on-one meet and greet with their favourite stars before the show! Only ticketholders will gain access registration for Creator meet and greets, which will be opened in the next few weeks. So make sure to grab your tickets early if you want to meet your idol of YOUR CHOICE. *internal scream of excitement! *
