When the cat’s away, the mice will play. But what happens when you’re away?

Summary:

Max (Louis C.K.) can spend 8 hours starring at the door waiting for his beloved owner Kate (Ellie Kemper) to return. In another nearby apartment, his feline friend Chloe might simply be trying to refrain from helping herself to whatever's in the fridge—when she's not lying lazily on an overstuffed pillow, that is. Then there's the bulldog Mel, who spends his afternoons barking at squirrels that foolishly wander into the tree outside his apartment window.

But everything changes for Max when Katie rescues a huge oversized dog named Duke (Eric Stonestreet). It’s a dog eat dog world in their small apartment and, as Max puts it, Duke is a bad dog. Their fighting leads them to get lost and it’s up to their house-bound friends–Gidget (Jenny Slate), Tiberius, Chloe, Pops, Buddy, Mel and SweetPea–to save them from the streets of New York and the Flushed Pets lead by the adorably dangerous bunny Snowball (Kevin Hart).

Can Max and Duke put their differences aside and work together? Can the housebound pets brave the streets of New York and make it back home before 5PM? It’s all a day’s work in the The Secret Life of Pets.

Conclusion:

It’s no secret that we have huge soft spots for animals. Their adorably cute and hilarious videos are always trending on YouTube and Instagram. You can tell from the trailers that the pets are absolutely adorable and you will have a few light laughs during the film. Realistically, though, this movie was made for a younger audience so I was a little let down by the very predictable script.
