It’s never easy starting your own beauty company and Erica Williams, founder of Von Blair, can definitely attest to that. What started off as listening to her clients’ needs at a VIP Hair Studio turned into Von Blair hair, which eventually expanded into makeup and skincare. “They really like the one-stop shop experience we offer now,” Erica explains. “I listen to their likes and wants and try to incorporate into the brand.”
“The main struggle is exercising patience while building your clientele. I want the whole world to use Von Blair,” Erica expresses. And with so many indie beauty brands emerging, it’s a lot harder to grab the attention of customers. Luckily, Von Blair has a few big things lined up in the near future; “Von Blair is going to be featured in a major magazine, Cosmetic Surgery and Beauty, in Australia this August. [We were] also able to debut the skincare line in May at the Women Wellness and Beauty Expo and received a great response.” But the best feedback also comes from happy customers!
Von Blair features three different types of lipsticks: lip gloss which is great for a longer wear, lip glaze which offers a high level of shine and tons of moisture and liquid matte lipstick which is their newest addition but ever so popular. Erica’s personal favourites are DANGER for a red lip, BIKER CHIC if she’s in the mood for a berry gloss and PEEP SHOW for a nude lip glaze. For as summer quickly approaches, you might be interested in TURN ON (a red/orange matte lipstick) or PHOENIX (a bold pink/purple). But whenever you are shopping for a new lipstick, Erica shares a great babe tip; “When shopping for a new Von Blair lipstick, make sure you follow our Instagram for colours shown on all different skin tones to help you pick a shade that's right for you. Named after her sons Dallas Von and Donovan Blair, Von Blair has only started making headlines and we can’t wait to see Erica Williams succeed in her entrepreneurial quest.
