There is nothing we love more than to see what Katy Perry arrives on the red carpet wearing. At the 2016 Met Gala, Katy went above and beyond with this outrageous look. She never ceases to amaze us! Not only was her hair twisted up in a high, Marge Simpson style, she also bleached her eyebrows and finished the look with a bold black lipstick and blue mascara from her new Katy Kat line with CoverGirl.
The Katy Kat Collection features 11 highly demi-matte lipsticks in a variety of fun and bold shades – purr-fect for the summer! “We are launching something special, individualistic and unique – Katy Kat lipsticks. It’s the demi-matte so it does not dry, “Katy Perry shares about her new collab collection with CoverGirl. “This collection gives women who might be afraid of bold colours the opportunity to try something new, but it won’t cost you as much.”
As you can see, this lipstick collection has a different colour for every type of women and every type of occasion – from your sweet classics to your deep bolds. “So this [black] one is Perry Panther. I’m just so happy that there is a beautiful, black, demi-matte lipstick in the market that is affordable,” Katy explains. “On the other side of the specter we have a soft lavender - Cosmo Kitty. Kitty Purry is a kind of beautiful pink rose. I named this colour Kitty Purry because I saw myself wearing this colour the most.”
Katy Perry worked very closely with the CoverGirl team on this collab, even as far as working on the texture of the lipstick tubes; “I get to pick the texture of the case. When you get in your hands, the texture, it just feels so good,” Katy shares.
I’m sure you can tell that there is definitely a cat influence on all of the lipstick shades which I LOVE (I too, am a cat lady, that’s why I think Katy Perry and I could be BFFs one day). Matte is where it’s at but I definitely feel my lips getting dry and chapped after applying matte lipsticks, which is totally normal. However, there is a solution! These lipsticks are demi-matte which means they look and feel velvety smooth on the lips. It’s matte without the chapped.
The good news gets even better because alongside 11 new demi-matte shades, this collection also features two new mascaras – Perry Blue and CoverGirl’s darkest jet black mascara. I tried a blue mascara once and even though I was very hesitant at very, I loved it. If you’re not wearing any colour around your eyes, swipe some blue mascara on for an instant pop of colour. I’m telling you babes, blue mascara will be trending this summer so try to get your paws on a tube asap!
Babe Box was there at the Katy Kat x CoverGirl launch and got to see makeup artist Veronica Chu work her magic on artists and to test out the colours for ourselves. We were also treated to some lip art so I decided to do something crazy and get half my lips done in Cosmo Kitty (lavender) and the other half with Coral Cat. It might not be an everyday look for me, but I did get quite a few compliments on the TTC.
